 ESNO Common Training Framwork for Specialist nurses 

 The title Specialist Nurse in Europe has a variety of different definitions of roles, expected responsibilities, and competences. These vary nationally, regionally and even locally. Some  are formal, and some informal, with the implication that there is no professional mobility possible. One of the ESNO goals is to gain recognition for the title Specialist Nurses in the European context, not only for mobility, but also to address the quality of care in the advanced position and patient safety. About five ESNO members have competence profiles, training frameworks and education routes with even accreditation systems, but these are not unified although there are a lot of overlaps.

 Gaining a common position on the education and qualification of the Specialist Nurse in Europe requires harmonisation and the best way to do this is through an in-depth study. Before making a study, it also requires an exploration per specialism. For this reason, ESNO has developed a questionnaire for all Specialist Nurses exercising in Europe and constituencies to be held in 2019 in preparation for a study on Specialist Nurse in Europe in 2020. This survey will remain open until the end of October.

ESNO, Nurses Guide on AMR and Vaccination

In process, the ESNO Nurses Information and Education Guide on Anti Microbial Resistance (AMR) and Vaccination   Regarding  the current role of nurses in combatting antimicrobial resistance (AMR), ESNO regards that thus far there had been a lack of involvement of specialist nurses on this issue and that there is great potential to increase involvement in the areas of antimicrobial stewardship, surveillance of the incidence of drug-resistant infections and education of patients on this topic. ESNO aims to raise awareness and educate nurses on this topic; equipping nurses to tackle AMR is now a top priority for the organisation. "We're back!" Is this what #COVID19 could have been thinking, as the world entered another global viral pandemic? While some people had been predicting a pandemic from an emerging virus for some years, no-one expected the rapid global spread of #COVID19, or the seriousness of the illness and its potential long-term effects. The health systems and the healthcare professionals providing first contact with patients had to take responsibility for patient care, even though they couldn't be fully prepared.
