Expectations of the Touch of Brussels

What are you expectation for the day?

  • To understand what specialist nurses would like from ESNO in the near future
  • Networking with other professionals
  • I am keen to profile dermatology as a speciality for nurses. I would like to learn how health care is provided and the roles and responsibilities available to nurses working throughout Europe. Understand what it means to be a specialist nurse working in Europe.
  • Sharing from the various organisations and countries
  • to have the opportunity to learn about nursing specialties other than mine (I am a nurse anesthesist ) in Europe
  • to gain information on how to be link with health-related projects, sponsored by the EU
  • Networking with people who have some influence in the EU politics or healthcare organisations to collaborate
  • Dynamics and interaction and getting to know person before the ESNO congress
  • Learning about organisations of the health sector
  • Perspectives and strategies and especially for Nursing and Nursing education in the future
  • i want to know more about that side of things, it seems really far from my working reality


 What do you hope to take back home after the day?

  • How specialist nurses can contribute to the wider EU health policy discussions
  • Relevant information to share with my colleagues
  • I would like to learn how other specialities network and promote clinical practice. Encouragement and direction in supporting UK specialist dermatology nurses to advance in their professional practice.
  • vision of what industry could bring to help ongoing initiatives
  • Have a better view of the nursing specialties opportunities in Europe for a possible professional change
  • Interesting inputs, networking with nurses across Europe
  • understanding the dynamics of the EU and everything around it.
  • Who is representing dynamics, does CPME speak on behalf of all doctors and ESNO speak on behalf of all nurses?

Facebook and Nurses Code of Ethics

Information on health and all related to personal health and vulnerability is high sensitive, on sickness, therapy, profession and so on this is a fundament everyone understands. And for that reason -to emphasis on that- Nurses have signed by their graduation a code of coduct and ethics before getting their diploma and certificates. All Nurses codes on ethics in the world are inspired and/or partly copied from the ICN Code of Ethics. The ICN Code of Ethics for Nurses, most r ecently revised in 2012, is a guide for action based on social values and needs. The ICN Code of Ethics guides nurses in everyday choices and it supports their refusal to participate in activities that conflict with caring and healing. ESNO representing this 'One Nurse'

"How many nurses does ESNO represent", this a far too often question addressed in the European bubble, in the parliament, European Institutes, NGO's and industry, but to nurses in this European enenvironment like   ' ....asking a fish to prove the wetness of water... '. It is such an obvious question but somehow difficult to answer, but we do our best. The basics on a response shows how difficult it is to speak in exact numbers ESNO represents,  like it is for more of ESNO members. One of the members have about 40.000 or even double, and others have also in the same number but we cannot count them. Too often we receive the question '....how many nurses do you represent.... ' but this is a quotative question. Repeatedly we have to explain that roughly there are about 3.000.000 nurses in Europe, and all are in somehow a specialist area, in specialist areas and some in advanced levels, and the last group we have ESNO as lead.
